'Overflaten' - 'The Surface'

This excerpt from the stage work "Overflaten" ("The Surface") from 1992 is partially based on French author Alfred Jarry's "theories", where he claims to prove the surface of God in mathematical terms. (Composer: Torgrim Sollid, playwright: Anne Søyseth.) NRK made a reportage which we here publish. It's got no commentary and we're given no context, but it shows another side of Søyr and Torgrim Sollid's life-long project.

'Crossroads'

In 1988 Søyr initiated an ambitious project called "Crossroads" for The Molde Jazz Festival. Five bands participated and were on stages surrounding the audience. Composer Rolf Wallin wrote music that connected the groups. NRK's "Evening News" made this reportage.

Søyr i Stjørdal 1980

Thanks to The National Library's collection of archival material, we came across this rare recording from the jazz club "Jesper" in Stjørdal, a small town in the middle of Norway. It's not meant for publishing purposes and is made on a simple tape recorder, but shows the band's versatile style in the early days.
